Artificial lakes and water reservoirs will be created in Tashkent to eliminate the city’s inversion phenomenon and improve air quality. This measure is stipulated in the Presidential Decree on urgent actions to enhance the environmental situation in the capital.
To ensure microclimate stability that positively impacts atmospheric air quality, at least three artificial lakes and water basins will be established in each of the four directions of the city—east, west, north, and south.
In accordance with the Decree, the Tashkent City Administration, jointly with the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, will double the number of fountains in the city, using funds from the State Targeted Fund for Eliminating Nationwide Environmental Problems.
Additionally, the Tashkent City Administration, together with the Ecology Committee, the Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, and the Association of Uzbekistan Mahallas, will establish “Shaded Walking Streets”. These will be created by selecting three streets in each district of Tashkent—with a length of no less than 5 km and characterized by low levels of greenery.
