RPL System Prototype Being Improved with the Participation of UNESCO Expert Michel Aribaud

Oct. 12, 2026

The latest expert visit by international expert Michel Aribaud has commenced at the Institute for the Development of the National Qualifications System as part of a project implemented in cooperation with UNESCO.

During the visit, work is continuing on the implementation of the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) system. In particular, members of the working group, in collaboration with the international expert, are working to improve the prototype system for recognising knowledge, skills and competencies acquired through non-formal education and informal learning.

As part of this process, particular attention is being paid to refining the prototype’s procedures, assessment tools and criteria, as well as preparing for the practical piloting of the prototype for the “Assistant Electric Locomotive Driver” qualification in the transport sector. In addition, an action plan for October–November is to be developed.

The implementation of the RPL system will create opportunities to assess and formally recognise, in accordance with established procedures, the knowledge, skills and competencies that individuals have acquired through work experience, self-directed learning, non-formal education and informal learning. This, in turn, will contribute to validating professional qualifications, enhancing competitiveness in the labour market and developing human capital.

Working sessions involving the international expert will continue until 15 October.
