The Institute for the Development of the National Qualifications System hosted a seminar-training dedicated to analysing the relevance of occupations, qualifications and skills, as well as forecasting their future development. The event brought together specialists from ministries and government agencies responsible for coordinating the activities of Sectoral Councils for the Development of Professional Qualifications.

The primary objective of the seminar was to examine current labour market trends, enhance methodologies for forecasting future high-demand occupations and competencies, and strengthen the practical capacity of Sectoral Council specialists in this field.

During the seminar, experts from the Institute delivered presentations entitled “Global and National Labour Market Trends: Demographic Changes, Digitalisation, Automation, the Green Economy, and Artificial Intelligence” and “Methodology for Forecasting Qualifications and Skills in the Short- and Long-Term Labour Market Perspective.”

The presentations provided an in-depth analysis of how contemporary economic and technological developments are transforming occupations, driving the emergence of new professions, modernising existing ones, and shaping the competencies that will be most in demand in the future. Participants were also introduced to scientific and methodological approaches for identifying future workforce requirements.

The second part of the seminar focused on discussing a draft survey designed to identify priority occupations, professional skills and personal competencies across different sectors of the economy. Participants shared a number of recommendations aimed at improving the survey's content, ensuring a more accurate reflection of sector-specific needs, and strengthening labour market demand analysis.

At the conclusion of the seminar-training, participants noted that they had significantly enhanced their practical skills in conducting systematic labour market analyses, forecasting future workforce demand across industries and enterprises, and identifying emerging occupations and modern competencies in cooperation with experts from the Sectoral Councils.

The seminar-training served as an important practical platform for aligning the National Qualifications System with labour market needs, improving the effectiveness of the Sectoral Councils, and strengthening systematic approaches to preparing competitive professionals equipped with the modern competencies required by the country's evolving economy.
