Aug. 7, 2026

Representatives of the Institute for the Development of the National Qualifications System participated in a working meeting organized within the framework of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) project “Support to the Reform and Modernization of Uzbekistan’s Vocational Education and Training System (TexVET II).”

The meeting brought together the Institute’s management and experts, representatives of the GIZ project, and secretaries of the Sector Skills Councils to discuss the key priorities for organizing the activities of the councils during the second half of 2026.

The discussions focused on modernizing occupational standards in line with current labour market demands, improving curricula and training programmes based on the dual education model, and strengthening the methodological support provided to the Sector Skills Councils.

Participants also agreed on the phased expansion of the dual education model, which has been successfully piloted in the textile sector under the TexVET II project, to other priority sectors of the economy. The agreed measures include establishing sectoral working groups, developing updated training programmes, and strengthening cooperation between technical colleges and employers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to assign responsible Institute staff to the selected sectors and to accelerate practical cooperation with the Sector Skills Councils.

The meeting marked another significant step toward aligning the National Qualifications System more closely with labour market needs, strengthening the institutional capacity of the Sector Skills Councils, and further expanding international cooperation.
