May 10, 2026

A meeting was held with a delegation led by Rita Almeida, Head of the Education and Skills Global Practice for the Europe and Central Asia region at the World Bank Group.

The meeting served as an important platform for discussing the large-scale transformation processes being carried out in the fields of vocational and higher education in Uzbekistan, exchanging international experience, and identifying prospects for future cooperation.

During the meeting, the participants comprehensively discussed ways to accelerate institutional, academic, financial, and digital transformation processes within the vocational and higher education systems. In particular, views were exchanged on enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the activities of educational institutions, widely introducing modern management principles, and bringing the quality of education and scientific research in line with international standards.

As emphasized during the discussions, in the context of today’s global competition, the education system is becoming not only a mechanism for providing knowledge, but also a key instrument for training specialists equipped with modern skills that meet the needs of the economy. From this perspective, the digitalization of the education system, automation of management processes, and establishment of data-driven decision-making mechanisms were identified as urgent priorities.

The nationwide survey process being implemented by the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education was also discussed in detail during the meeting. The parties emphasized that such surveys play an important role in comprehensively assessing the current state of educational institutions and analyzing the quality of education and management effectiveness.

It was noted that these surveys help identify existing challenges and needs within educational institutions, gather feedback from students and teachers, evaluate the effectiveness of the educational process, and create opportunities for evidence-based decision-making.

In turn, this contributes significantly to improving the quality of education, enhancing management systems, and ensuring the targeted implementation of reforms within the sector.

During the dialogue, the parties also exchanged views on the effective integration of international best practices into the national education system, improving mechanisms for quality assessment, and strengthening systems for training highly qualified personnel.

Representatives of the World Bank particularly emphasized that the development of human capital in education is one of the key drivers of economic growth. In this regard, the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan received positive recognition from international experts, who noted the strategic importance of the country’s efforts to modernize the education system.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation in the field of education, introduce international experience and innovative approaches, and implement joint projects aimed at improving the quality of education.

In particular, strengthening cooperation in areas such as improving education quality assessment systems, developing digital educational infrastructure, enhancing academic and managerial capacity, training specialists in line with labor market demands, and integrating into international rankings and standards was identified as a priority objective.

This meeting represents another important step toward integrating Uzbekistan’s education system into the global educational space, preparing competitive professionals equipped with modern knowledge and skills, and elevating the quality of education to a new level.

The growing cooperation with international organizations in the field of education once again demonstrates that the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan are being carried out on the basis of openness, transparency, and compliance with international standards.
